Beguiled

Beguiled
Slightly confounding
Once more around
Purpose huddles through a barrier of veils
Waving agreeably, all that it seems to be

Firm in illusion,
Haughtily tread
Still ahead by at least one apparition
Facing another doubt, chasing a roundabout

Choosing a posture of unassuming indifference
Giving no thought to what may be looming in the distance

Then she descended,
Disguised as a dove
Spreading malice in a captivating show
Until I could not find my poor retreating mind

Hardly worthwhile
To wander beguiled
And bray unwittingly against the glassy glare
Wrong about everything, oh so embarrassing

Trapped behind barricades of convenient politeness
Hindered from crying out in the spirit of rightness
Nothing but vapourous correspondence to rely on
Strain to remain inside my innermost asylum

Guard at ease, inviting her to seize possession
Imminent rise of the desirable obsession

To the next station,
Guessing I'm free
Not anticipating any more intrusions
Her in my memory, one step ahead of me

Time will decide the length of complying at random
Until the furthest flung design's lying abandoned
Run to the obstacle for a sudden enhancement
The further to fall, the deeper the rosy entrancement
