Temperance

Temperance

Self restraint is what is in demand
Once the situation's out of hand

Visibly driven, securely drawn
Ready for drastic misguidance
Glittering gatherings come and gone
Dwindling options to settle upon

Heard it stated most emphatically
Depart from acting too erratically

Startling vision, bold design
Offering promise of freedom
Soon to arrive at the missing line
Behind which temperance stands to confine
You can argue all night, sleep through the light
Concentrate hopes in a bundle
Strike down the stranger in a fit of delight
Lean on excuses to stay in the right

Prudent to divert the energy
More attention needed urgently
Eyes to scrutinize behind the back
Ears to listen for a cardiac

Rising defiantly above the call
Fly in the face of prediction
Headed directly for a righteous fall
Somewhere too far from the sheltering wall
You can do the routine like a machine
Aim for a showy new treasure
Bask in detachment from the telling scene
Making no record of the dismissal

It took me longer to find the words for this one.
